Hardware-in-the-loop drive train test bench

Birger Pöhlsen build a temporary installation of a test hardware-in-the-loop drive train test bench based on a 48V power supply at the Chair of Transmission and Drive Technology at the University of Rostock.

The development of a pc-based real-time control for this test bench was the task of his master thesis. The use of the test bench is to evaluate and measure the operating points of electric motors.

It thus consists of an especially for the use at 48V winded 15 kW asynchronous motor of the Kemmerich Motoren GmbH with a torque measuring shaft and a 10 kW BLDC from Golden Motor Technology Co. Ltd as the device under test.

Both motors are powered by a SEVCON Gen4 Size 6 controller with a peak phase current of 650A. The test bench is controlled by Beckhoff terminals and the control developed herewith. Each Sevcon works as a slave in the CANopen-bus network and is controlled by a Beckhoff CANopen-Master-terminal. The torque is determined by a measuring shaft from Lorenz Messtechnik and the controller power is assessed with LEM current transducer and evaluated by the control and Beckhoff terminals.
